Presso Coffee Machine For Home?

So many choices -how do you know which machine to choose, such a differential in cost, if you want a good coffee is price the decider?

Well no its not. Major brand names make it easy but the long term cost are high if you consider pod machines. If you are a keen coffee consumer perhaps you will drink 4 cups a day- ground coffee 4p a shot, pod can be 15p+ so conservatively you may be paying 40-50p extra a day using pods or £180 per annum, the cost of a machine on its own.

A ground coffee machine makes an ok shot of espresso but they use a vibration pump. This averages 8 bar by alternating between 0 – 15 bar, the result is overextraction, the real reason why a cup of coffee at home is never as good as in a good cafe or restaurant.

A commercial machine use a rotary pump giving a constant pressure of 8-8.5 bar giving the perfect creamy espresso.

So is the answer to buy a commercial espresso machine ? I dont think so. Before the use of pumps we had lever machines, domestic ones can be as good as commercial but obviously can’t produce the same volume!

Have a look at these machines- they can be cool and stand out from the crowd- one of my favorites is the presso – great price and an excellent cup of espresso.

A much better solution than using pods- and so much cheaper!
